Welcome to ISM's Blog, Think Tank

For many people, a new year can signal the start of a new adventure- this often involves study. That’s why we have put together these 4 study tips to keep you motivated for 2019.

1. Create a Study Plan

Time is precious. We all have more going on in our life other than study- whether it be working, family life or social engagements. Fitting everything in and finding the balance is the key. This is why planning your study time is essential. Create a study plan, or use our one.

“Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” Dwight D. Eisenhower

2. Make use of the technologies available to you

Gone are the days where we put pen to paper for our assessments. This is the digital age and it isn’t going anywhere. Embrace it! Use the social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to help you. Utilise your spare time on the bus, train or waiting at the doctors to read through your study notes. All of ISM’s portals are mobile friendly so make the most of it. If you are studying with colleagues consider creating a LinkedIn group to discuss the course content or ask for help. This ties in with our next point.

3. Find a Study Partner

Many of the programs at ISM are organised within a workplace. Buddy up! Keep each other on track and organise study breaks together (if time allows). If you have access to Facebook or LinkedIn, create a group and keep each other motivated (feel free to invite your ISM trainer to join the group).

4. Refer to an assessor

Our trainer and assessors are here to help. You might actually get through your course at a faster pace if you ask the question that has been bugging you for days. Our trainers are industry experts so make the most of their knowledge and experience. If you don’t have their direct contact details then email our admin team and they will arrange for contact to be made as soon as possible.

Everyone studies differently so what works for you, may not work for others (I am personally not a fan of staying up to midnight studying but this works for some). Find your groove and stick with it. Good luck and have a prosperous 2019.
