ISM Student Interview: James Clarke

We sat down recently with one of our awesome students, James Clarke, who just completed (and quite frankly, smashed) his Commercial & Asset Finance course, to discuss a little bit about his experience studying here with us at ISM. 

Please tell us about your current role?

I recently relocated back to Australia following two decades working in Commercial and Investment Banking roles in Singapore and North America. 

What got you interested in commercial & asset finance?

Much of my existing skills and experience would be easily portable to a career in Commercial and Asset Finance. Additionally, people I knew in Australia doing Commercial and Asset Finance roles found it to be a varied and rewarding career making it my logical next step.

Did our Commercial & Asset Finance course meet your expectations? 

I would say the course content and delivery far exceeded my expectations. The materials were concise and practical and the lecturer (Jeff) was amazingly knowledgeable as well as an excellent teacher (two things that may not always go hand in hand).

What skills & knowledge did you gain from the course that you now able to implement into your role? 

The course has been designed very practically and is clearly intended to impart knowledge and skills that will prepare the student properly for real world roles.

How did you find studying at ISM?

I had a great all round experience with ISM with everyone from the admin staff (Lana) to the trainer (Jeff) and even management (Gerard) amazingly helpful and skilful in their roles at ISM.

Best advice you can give to someone considering studying at ISM? 

I cant think of a better partner for your education and training needs.

What’s next for you?

I am looking to do more study with ISM which I will likely commence in Q4 this year.
